Believe it or not

The average household in the United States spends about 35 hours a year making toast! Texas based artist Alfonso Osoria spends much more time than that, creating food art out of toast!

Self taught, Osoria has tried a variety of techniques, but the majority of his work uses the simplest—burning the bread and scraping away the excess burn. He then places each piece into the frame like a puzzle!

Over the past 25 years, Ripley’s has acquired toast art from four different artists in four different countries!

Einstein made from 440 pieces of toast

The Albert Einstein shown in this episode of Unboxing Ripley’s Believe It or Not! is by Adam Sheldon of Carlisle, England. At eight feet by eight feet, using 440 pieces of toast, is it the largest piece of toast art in our collection!
