Why would ANYONE need a Vampire Killing Kit anyway?
The kits were acquired by people in preparation of possibly meeting a vampire during their international travels to Eastern Europe and their usage dates back to the mid-1800s.
Most were created in the Boston area and were available by mail order.
Travelers brought back terrifying tales of vampires with them from the region – well before Dracula was brought to life by Bram Stoker.
Professor Ernst Blomberg
Who was Professor Blomberg?
Professor Ernest Freiherr von Blomber, is the man whose name can be found in almost every label adhered to the the inside lid of one of these kits.
Born in Hamburg, Germany, he was a theologian and also a biologist.
He was also a tad obsessed with lycanthropes, shapeshifters and other critters of the night. He even wrote a book about it.
Ok … so what’s on the label?
Some vague DIY vampire killing advice and a reminder to actually read the instruction manual. Wait … there’s a manual??!
Great … I’m sure that eating the garlic cloves and chasing them with holy water was not recommended protocol. I’m so dead.
