RIPLEY’S ODDITORIUM FAQs

What can I find inside?

Venturing through 14 themed galleries, adults and children alike will become immersed in artifacts, incredible art, animal oddities, pop culture memorabilia, interactive games, and stories of people and places that are incredibly hard to believe, but undeniably true. This is your chance to experience the only place in St. Augustine where you can come face to face with a genuine shrunken head, encounter extraordinary people, and do a double take of animal oddities!

How long does it take to tour the Odditorium?

The Odditorium is self-guided, allowing you to walk through at your own pace. Everyone’s experience is different, but we recommend planning 1–2 hours for your visit. You can enjoy the Attraction leisurely or embark on a quick tour. Stay for as long or as little as you like!

Is the Odditorium wheelchair accessible?

Yes, our Attractions are ADA compliant.

Where do I check in for my tour?

All Red Train Tours begin and end at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! at 19 San Marco Avenue. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time.

If you have your email confirmation readily available, you will not need to pick up tickets; just check in with your driver and show your confirmation email upon arrival.

If you do not have your confirmation email, please visit our gift shop and one of our team members will print your tickets. Tours will depart promptly at your scheduled time.

Are there any restrictions?

Ripley’s Red Train Tours require our guests to take one step approximately 13 inches off the ground. Fold-up wheelchairs and collapsible walking aids may be taken on the train, but guests must board under their own power.

Are the trains enclosed?

Our Red Trains are open-air vehicles with bench-style seating and easy access in and out from both sides of the train.

What happens if it rains?

In the event of rain, we will give you a complimentary rain poncho. In the event that the weather is too severe for us to operate, we will gladly refund your tickets or reschedule you for another time.

Are the Red Trains and Trolleys the same?

No, there are several key differences. Ripley’s Red Trains sit lower to the ground than the trolleys, allowing for easier on-off access. They are also more nimble and can travel down Aviles Street, the oldest street in St. Augustine. Additionally, the trolleys offer all-day passes, while Ripley’s Red Train Tours are a roundtrip, 60-minute narrated tour, focusing on the sites and our city’s history.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, we are proud to be pet friendly!

Can I eat on board?

Yes! However, we do ask our guests to be courteous, clean, and mindful of the safety and comfort of others.

Do I need to bring my own ghost-hunting equipment?

Will I see paranormal activity?

While we cannot guarantee that you will see paranormal activity, there is usually some on almost every tour. Even if you don’t see something with the naked eye, you may be surprised what you find when you go home and look at your photos!

Why is the building considered haunted?

Before our building was Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditorium, it was known as Castle Warden. Built in 1887, Castle Warden was the winter home of William G. Warden, a business partner of John D. Rockefeller and Henry Flagler. In 1941, the castle was remodeled as a hotel and hosted many prominent visitors, including Robert Ripley!

During the time Castle Warden was a hotel, many guests claimed to experience paranormal events. We suggest you book a Ripley’s Haunted Castle Investigation tour to learn more about the haunted history of Castle Warden!

I took a tour and had a paranormal experience! Where can I share my photos or story?

We encourage you to share your experience and any evidence of paranormal activity on social media! Be sure to tag us @RipleysBelieveItorNot on Instagram and @SaintAugustineRipleys on Facebook.
